FAQ

Common questions

What is Take?
Take is a mobile app that turns breaking news into short AI-narrated audio clips and delivers them as push notifications. Each clip is a 30–60 second spoken summary of a top story from the topics you subscribe to.
How does the AI summarisation work?
When a high-velocity story is detected, Take uses Claude (by Anthropic) to generate a concise 3–4 sentence spoken script, then converts it to natural-sounding speech using OpenAI's text-to-speech API. The summary is labelled "Take summary" in the app so it's always clear you're hearing an AI-generated brief.
Can I control when notifications arrive?
Yes. You can set quiet hours (e.g. 10 PM–7 AM), a daily clip limit, and an auto-play preference — so clips only play automatically when you're already listening, or only within a scheduled window, or never until you tap.
What sources does Take use?
Take monitors RSS feeds from established news outlets across each topic. We weight sources by authority and story velocity — how fast a story is spreading across multiple sources — to surface only genuinely significant events.
How do I cancel my Pro subscription?
Subscriptions are managed through the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). You can cancel any time through your device's subscription settings. You'll keep Pro access until the end of the current billing period.
