Privacy Policy

Take — Last updated June 10, 2026

Take ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Take mobile application (the "App"). This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the App you agree to this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address and a hashed password. We do not collect your name, phone number, or any government-issued identifier.

Preferences. We store the news topics you subscribe to, your notification quiet-hours window, your daily clip limit preference, and your auto-play setting. This information is associated with your account and stored on our servers.

Push notification token. When you grant notification permission the App registers a device-specific push token (APNs on iOS, FCM on Android). This token is used solely to deliver audio clips to your device. It is deleted from our servers when you sign out.

Listening activity. We record when you open a clip (i.e., begin playback) so we can enforce your daily clip limit and improve delivery timing. We do not record how long you listened or whether you finished a clip.

Subscription status. If you purchase a Pro subscription we receive a subscription event from our payments provider that tells us your subscription tier and expiry date. We do not receive or store your payment card details.

Usage and diagnostics. Standard server logs may capture your IP address, device type, OS version, and App version when you make API requests. These logs are retained for up to 30 days and used only for debugging and abuse prevention.

2. How We Use Your Information

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell or rent your personal data to any third party.

3. Third-Party Services

The App relies on the following third-party services, each of which may process some of your data under their own privacy policies:

These services receive only the minimum data necessary to perform their function. For example, OpenAI and Anthropic receive article text for summarisation; they do not receive your email address or any account identifier.

4. Data Retention

5. Data Security

All data in transit is encrypted using TLS 1.2 or higher. Data at rest is encrypted by our infrastructure providers. Access to production data is restricted to authorised personnel only.

6. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

7. Your Rights

Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you, or to restrict or object to its processing. To exercise any of these rights, or to delete your account entirely, please contact us at the address below. We will respond within 30 days.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If the changes are material we will notify you via a notice in the App. Continued use of the App after any change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

9. Contact

If you have questions or concerns about this policy, please contact us at privacy@takemobile.app.
